"Jennifer Stewart's art has the ability to make you experience it, not simply see it.  Beyond realism, her painting embodies the history of her subject matter while locating it spatially and surrounding it with a sense of expanding background. Her talent with brush and palette knife, texture and color, depth and meaning keeps her work ever fresh, ever rewarding, pleasing both your eye and your spirit."
                                          -Marjorie M. Story

"As an owner of several impressionist and realist paintings I immediately recognized the quality of Jennifer Stewart's work. I acquired two still life scenes and commissioned a portrait of a friend on the second hole of the Savannah Golf Club where we played a charity event.  All three works use the artist’s fine sense of shades of light and color to capture the moment".
-Gary D. Bunton, New York Art Collector

A word from Jennifer

"I am a very tactile person wanting to reach out and touch everything I see-from the soft, smooth, velvety  fuzz of a new colt's back to the rough surfaces of old Savannah grey brick. I try to satisfy this urge through painting the subject.  My inspiration is often diverse, coming from many experiences:  the blaze of an April sunset reflected in the surface of the ocean's waters to the wonderful frizz of a carrot-top little girl in a doughnut shop - whether designing fabrics from soft chenille's to matte liaises or cool silks, painting on rough sisals or designing soft needlepoints, or interpreting the sensation onto painted canvas.

Savannah has all the old city charm embodied in its lovely buildings, Forsyth Park, the Squares, the cobble stone streets, the Seaboard Coastline Railroad's Roundhouse build of Savannah grey brick to service its massive old iron engines, the shrimp boat fleets, downtown's city living near the casual life on Tybee Island on the Atlantic Ocean - all surviving in a contemporary world. This contrast of the past with the contemporary, juxtaposing the old and the new enhances each and gives life energy to each -  be they emotionally charged, serene or both."
